Tellyn Family, July 11 Below is the complete article published in the Reader's Lives section of the July 2010 issue of Camping, and written by Jude Bowler and family from Cheshire. Our Easter camping consisted of the Bowler family (me, hubby Mark, daughters Morgan and Darcy) and the Birdsall family (being my cousin Jo, hubby Mark, boys Jake and Callum, and daughter Maisy). The site staff at Trawsdir were super professional - the booking process and check-in was a breeze. We were immediately shown to our pitches, which were next to each other as we requested. The pitches were level and very spacious for our Outwell Nevada 4 and the Birdsall's Outwell Hartford XL - and there was still plenty of room for both cars and a trailer on the pitch. We were located close to the superb play area, which has recently been refurbished at a cost of £65K. This proved fantastic as we could let the children wander over and play while we were tinkering about with the tents. Each pitch had a hook-up and we shared a tap with three to four other pitches. The first night we visited the Wayside Inn, easily reached just through the campsite's dog walking field. The food was reasonable, the beer was better, and the children thought the slot machine and the penny arcade was fantastic! The site's showers and toilet block at Trawsdir really was fantastic. Always super clean, it even had underfloor heating and the radio piped through speakers. Pot wash and food prep area was also only ever seen by us as spotless. From the site, Barmouth was just a ten-minute drive and we really enjoyed the beautiful beach. The girls all had donkey rides and there were some hilarious screams from the waltzers at the fairground too. We visited Corris Craft Centre, went on a boat and enjoyed a walking tour of the caves while listening to stories of King Arthur. We also had a nosey at Caerddaniel, which is the static caravan sister site to Trawsdir, and you get a beach parking pass for use here. All in all, this was a great weekend. We loved it and would definitely consider a return trip. The speed sign summed it all up for me "5MPH-Free Range Children About!". |
